But first and foremost, I’m a storyteller with a background in filmmaking and journalism, specialising in writing and directing. Originally from Nigeria, I’ve been based in Australia for nearly two decades.
As a Black African Australian woman, I challenged societal expectations to pursue my passion for storytelling. The norm for someone like me was to become a nurse or take on another subservient role. But I chose a different path. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Screen Production and Journalism from Murdoch University, and I’m currently completing my Honours in Media and Communication, where I’m researching the representation of African Australians in Western Australia’s film industry.
Throughout my career, I’ve achieved meaningful milestones—writing award-winning content, directing internationally recognised, industry-funded films, and authoring books, including my autobiography, I’m Not a Nurse. This title, inspired by my journey, symbolises the power, confidence, and voice that have blossomed within me.
Recently, I completed my debut independent feature film, Before I Go, starring Linda Osifo. I’ve also been honoured as a finalist in programs like the SBS Emerging Writer’s Incubator and the ABC Cadetship in Television Presenting.
My work in coaching, mentoring, and speaking is deeply rooted in my personal journey as a Black African migrant woman. In overcoming my own challenges, I discovered my voice—and that voice became my strength. I believe that each of us has a unique voice shaped by our passions, identity, and life experiences. This voice is like medicine, a gift we’re meant to share with the world.
But first, you need to ask yourself: What is your voice? What does it heal? Who needs it?
As your life coach and mentor, my mission is to help you discover your unique voice and empower you to use it with impact. Together, we’ll bring clarity to your voice, uncover what it heals, and identify who it’s meant for. With my expertise in filmmaking, storytelling, and presenting, you’ll learn how to communicate your voice in the most effective way so it reaches those who need it most.
It’s time for you to bloom in your magic.
When I’m not coaching or speaking, I’m creating stories for film or writing books. Here are some of my published works so far.
